visa regulations

If you are interested in study, research, or teaching abroad look no further.

Undergraduate Opportunities:

In addition to the many study abroad programs offered in francophone countries by UW's International Academic Programs, CIFS proposes three other possibilities:

  1. The Sciences Po Exchange allows undergraduates to pursue upper-level coursework in Paris for a semester or an academic year at the prestigious Institut d'Etudes Politiques.
  2. The Pasteur Foundation of New York offers the Paul W. Zuccaire Undergraduate Internship Program, a 10 week internship at the Institut Pasteur for undergraduate students in French and Science Departments.
  3. CIFS occasionally receives requests for summer interns from French businesses and organizations. Any undergraduate with a background in business and fluency in French who is interested in a possible internship should contact CIFS to see if there are any opportunities. (It may be possible to receive course credit for these internships.)
Graduate Student Opportunities:

CIFS coordinates the Chateaubriand Scholarship, a program made available annually by the French government for students pursuing doctoral research in topics related to France.

A post-doctoral fellowship is also offered for graduate students to do up to 3 years of research in laboratories of the Institut Pasteur.

Recent Graduate Opportunities:

The French Government offers the English Language Assistant Program, where 1500 assistants are paid to teach conversational English throughout France and its territories.

Travel grants

CIFS can periodically offer small travel grants in support of faculty and graduate student research, for more information on these grants, please contact CIFS at cifs@intl-institute.wisc.edu or 608-261-1018.
